Essex VS Bedfordshire Event Updates
Hi Everyone
This little blog post is going to cover day 1 of our January wargaming weekend event in Theydon Bois some details your going to need to know.
Timings
I am fully aware of team Bedfordshire having to travel home the evening of the event so i am going to mess around with timings a little to make the day a bit more workable for both teams. First round will likely start at 8:30am and be a 3 hour 15min round. First games are usually a slow start so this will be our longest game, it should give you all significant time to find your tables + unpack & get playing.
Lunch service will start at 11:45am and run till 12:30pm. Captains will have to do round 2 selections with me at 12:15pm
Round 2 will be 3 hours long from 12:30- 3:30pm a 20 min break while me an the captains do round 3 pairings
Round 3 will be 2 hours 45 min. As your final game as singles matches.
Awards and presentations will be afterward round 3 and everyone will be invited to have a drink at the pub at the end of the day but I understand if some players will want to head off.
Scoring
Unlike most Warhammer events this one scores differently there are 24 games in the day. Each win is worth 1 point, each draw is half a point. Your victory points matter only in the event of a total team tie of 12 points each. A team only needs to get to 12.5 points to win the county clash, and remember this is a team effort and to your captains your all playing a important role, so regardless your individual scores on the day, your efforts will contribute to your teams results once the dust settle so give every effort to play your best and to as many rounds as you can you never know if you can be the one that clinches that important half a point!
Lists
-Each player must have a 1000 point list and a 2000 point list.
-The 2000 point list is for your singles match and both lists must use the same detachment.
-The 2000 point list must contain your 1000 point lists within it (please note the warlord can change and enhancements can move to other units)
Game Etiquette
We do have a great group and i am pleased that we have players base that don’t take the game so seriously that it becomes unfun. But after i attended a recent GT and experienced some player etiquette that left a bit of a bad taste in my memory. I’m going to make some overall house rules for the day as this is a team event. Any further individual events apart from slow play its up to the individuals at the table.
Slow Play-
With the round lengths we have this shouldn’t be an issue at all but all players will be given regular warnings of timings. You will be asked to play as fast as you can and i will be keeping an eye on games and players to ensure they keep pace. With 15 min to go you will be given a warning to talk out your final round/s and the at will be a hard Dice down policy.
No go Backs-
If you forget to declare something in your turn regardless of what it is and what impact it has on the match. You cannot ask your opponent to go back and do it. I understand the pressure you will be on during the day and i forget things all the time but, After allowing my opponents to go back and do several things and not receive the same treatment of friendly play does it take the shine off a game. If you forget don’t worry about it just move on odds on your opponent will forget something also so it should come out in the wash. If you don’t forget you can be proud you played to the best of your ability and should be proud of your results regardless the scores.
HUGE RULES ERRORS-
So im hoping your all well versed in your rules by the time the event rolls round. But if something comes up where we cannot walk back 1 turn and start a redo the team who has made the error will forfeit the match. An example of this could be something like miss playing oath of moment and rerolling all hits and all wounds for 2 turns. It realistically shouldn’t come up but in case it does this will be the stance of the day.
New detachment, new codex’s, New rules
Christmas detachments-
Every faction will have a new detachment apparently and i’m going to say that these Christmas detachments will be playable in the January event.
New Codexes-
I have a sneaking suspicion the new Guard codex and Eldar codex will drop before the event. We will likely see them released with special edition boxes before major release. With these books if i am right and they are not available for general release they can only be played if both teams have players that have the book. If only 1 team is running guard of Eldar then it matters not if its new or old rules we just need to ensure both teams are playing the same rules.
New DataSlate-
The new data slate or update should be coming soon?. This patch will be included into the event rules. Any rules added 1 weeks before the event will not be included
